The new law enactment pushes the forensic scientists to develop objective findings that can assist in the investigation and prosecution of lawbreakers of crime or to acquit an innocent person from being in suspicion with giving the issue of relevance, reliability and credibility in forensic report based on scientific examination. The directive turn in the newer law also challenges the behavioural thinking of society as the punishment period in many cases are enhanced and will be much more rigorous than before.

In past five years, there has been much more focus to make a new law according to current requirement of society to control the crime. The purpose of this editorial note is to address the current novel role of forensic scientist in collection of criminal exhibits from scene of crime, application of systematics scientific technique in concordance to maintain chain of custody after enactment of new criminals from July 1st of year 2024.

The role of the forensic scientist is not only important in examination and analysis of criminal case exhibits for evidential proof, but it is a critical element for providing Justice through criminal justice system. The qualified skill and trained forensic scientist by knowledge and relevant experiences are very less all across the country. This a big challenge for the forensic scientist to full fill need of hour in order to meet the growing demand.

Presence of forensic expert on scene of crime during collection of criminal exhibits has exponentially enhanced responsibilities of experts. It will limit the mishandling of sensitive criminal exhibits of various kinds of crimes from organised to unorganised crimes and understanding the chain of custody of criminal exhibits in the cases by photography and videography method during the visit at the scene of crime. This will definitely control the unethical practice in mishandling of criminal cases because of which in many cases justice with innocent person does not happen.
